FRED is showing 1 B, 1 C, & 4 Ds pre-registered at this time...

I'll admit Gomez is the favorite, but I just have a feeling Goins just might take her out.

I'll grant the rankings that I saw on FRED, however, I am going to vote for Collins. She has become such a fine fencer and continues to make steady progress. She has a fine deep lunge, a commanding parry and a good sense of tempo. You go Kara'lina!

I was going to vote right away, then read fox' and Aldo's posts first. I think Aldo is right about Collins.
As with a lot of younger fencers she can be bad about beating herself up on strip if things start to go south on her.
If she can stay focused, though, I think she has all the right skill sets to move to the lead of this pack.

This event could be very interesting. What everyone has said is true. Kara has great form, is a lefty and is very focused. Marissa is just darn good when her mind is focused. You don't get a B rating at a NAC without having done some really good fencing. Ms. Goins is also pretty formidable. I saw her demolish Followill last year at the Longhorn. She may not move as well as the younger fencers, but she is strong and fences very intelligently. I wish the Shaito girls would have come down and joined in the scuffle and where is Followill. The word is that Followill injured herself during the Tucson NAC and is laid up for a few weeks. I think in the end, Marissa will win. She's a smart fencer and has a great deal of talent.

Sorry to hear about Sarah. If one or more of the Shaito girls were to show up, I think we can all agree we would all need to re-look at the field before making predictions.

Yes, but the odds of that happening are slim to incredibly not. The Shaito girls don't exactly travel within the region on a regular basis (to put it mildly). They don't even compete in SSCC events held in their own division...

I believe one of the reffed yours...
Kara'lina took 2nd in Div II WE, which takes a lot of composure, even if it was in a different weapon.
