Woo-Hoo!
The Trojanowski Collection has grown by one...
Okay, this is not about historical fencing, but it is about a historical weapon. Some of you know and have seen some the antiques Nicole and I have acquired.
Well, my wife surprised me this evening with a somewhat belated Xmas gift (apparently some issue getting through from overseas) in the form of a colichemarde-style smallsword (circa 1710-1730).
Like our other small sword, it has a trifoil cross-section blade like an epee and a needle-sharp point. Being a colichemarde, its forte is triple the thickness of the middle (more forceful parries). Tomorrow I'll try to take a photo for posting purposes.
I am a very happy camper...

Apologies for being so late. I spent last night playing with my new toy... and failing to clean up debris from the packing tube and packing materials. Anyway, here it is beside a standard French grip electric foil for a point of reference we can all relate to. ColichemardeInteresting thing, it is MUCH lighter in my hand than the foil. Yes, I know it is slightly shorter, but it also employs way more metal in the forte. It is very deft, very dextrous.

Here is one of the sword racks in the fencing room. The colichemarde is on top. LINK

Wow, John.
Nice collection. I am envious of your fencing room. I can see the litographs on the other wall.
Congrats on your new addition!

Very pretty. I approve of your collection (and like JEC, I am envious). Your post says this ONE of the sword racks in your room. There is more?

Hey, getting one is easy... just marry someone as cool as my wife! But FWIW, I'm reffing at the Pouj. If you plan to be there, I could bring it along for ooos-&-aaaahs purposes. It is a lovely weapon, designed to allow you to deftly slay your fellow man and look darned good while doing it! ;D

I want to play with it!It IS all about style, isn't it?
