We the Texas State Fencing Club, would like to invite everyone to join us at the Texas RenFest on NOVEMBER 10th 2007.we have already gotten intouch with a couple of other fencing clubs and plan to make it a weekend to remember (or not remember). Its the Highland Fling themed weekend. We want to make it a fencers day at the festival!!!!!!! it would be quite cool if we run into a whole heap of fencers at the affair!!! I even asked that it be put on the southwest section usfa calender.

Alas, that is the weekend of the NAC in Dallas that I'll be working... I don't ref and I'm too old for the NAC so I guess I'll check out the Highland Fling. I'll be the joker swilling mead and dropping tips down the bar wenches' cleavage... (Decadence, one of the few pleasures in life that is NOT over-rated!)

My wife and I got back from vacation late Saturday and checked out the Texas Renaissance Festival on Sunday (1st weekend). We were accompanied by her brother and his daughter so we ate a bit, did very little shopping, caught no acts except the Falconer's Show and a wee bit of Caste in Bronze, and saw A LOT... repeat... A LOT of the kids' rides (she's in elementary school).
I'd be curious if anyone has caught the Arte of Defense show yet, or any of the other pieces thus far. I know that fightgal is not working TRF this year.
I am happy to add that the musical acts have returned (pretty much all of them were missing last year and it appears customer complaints did a lot to correct it): Cantiga, Wyndnwyre, E Muzeki, etc.
I also noted that last season's experiment to have only one act per stage (instead of two, alternating) has also been corrected and most stages seemed to field at least two acts (three at a few). As above, customer complaints seemed to have had an effect.

Too cool! I missed that they were doing a class!
I went to the Arte of Defense but got there just as it was starting and was stuck in the back. (They need a bigger space!)

Look at the clips on the bottom of this page: clfc.2itb.com/. Looks like schlager7 got stuck at the same show behind a tree! ;D
