I found this site about a film titled "Illusions." The site indicated it intended to film in the Austin area last fall (2002). Here is a synopsis from their web page. Does anyone know the project's status?
ILLUSION is a fast-paced psychological thriller that chronicles the coming of age of a young woman who returns to the place where her parents were murdered eight years earlier in order to "get back on the horse" and overcome her relentless nightmares and fears. But after falling in love with the revered football hero who is running for Mayor, she finds herself in danger of being a murder victim herself.
ILLUSION follows the story of a captivatingly beautiful woman, Eve, haunted by the murder of her parents who were brutally killed in a small Texas town. After the murder, she moves back to Mexico to live with her Grandfather, a fencing master. Eight years later, we meet Eve again – now 20-years old – during a fencing lesson in which her Grandfather explains the forgotten principle of ‘honor.’ It reminds Eve of her failure and fear in defending her parents. She throws her sword down, tormented. At this moment, her Grandfather faces the inevitable conclusion – time is running out for both of them to put their past to rest. He concedes that he has arranged an opportunity for Eve to return to the Texas to study. Astonished and exhilarated, Eve decides to take her chances, and hopes the move will give her solace from the nightmares that have plagued her since the death of her parents. And realize her dream of becoming a doctor like her father.
BUT in Texas… a chance meeting with her college roommate's charming brother, Dylan, and an ensuing sexually charged encounter forces Eve to confront her feelings about sexuality, trust, and love. As a naïve and trusting Eve settles into her new surroundings, she suddenly senses ‘someone’ is lurking in the background. The audience is never clued in to the identity of her stalker, but scene by scene, second by second, a chilling and disturbing portrait of the cunning killer emerges with vivid realism that keeps the audience guessing as to what will happen next, culminating in a violent attack on Eve.
Instead of shattering Eve's psyche, the experience propels her to piece together a psychological profile of her stalker – one that bears an uncanny resemblance to Dylan. Armed with the determination to confront the truth, Eve lures him to meet again. But this time she is ready…ready to defend her honor. In a surprise twist ending, find out whether Eve has found the courage to face her demons…and kill the man that has cost her everything. Rather to die than be dishonored.
