I haven't seen it yet and I'm not asking for spoilers, but...
as a period naval piece, is there any decent swordplay in this flick?

I was a history major, and I _Loved_ it! They paid extreme amounts of attention to historical accuracy and detail. Don't expect any modern fencing, but a really good film for the old cutlass-clashing and rigging-climbing swashbuckler action! I plan to get the video when it comes out.

Did anyone notice the article in the 12/26 Chronicle ? It concerns the resurgence of fencing and swordplay in this years movies and gives critiques ( they like the Bloom/Depp bout in Pirates of the Carribean ). My fencing daughter still thinks the fencing in the old Great Race is hard to beat.

With Ross Martin vs Tony Curtis. I have to admit I really enjoy their piece together. Not always the most inspired fencing, but the crispness of the delivery of each riposte and counter-riposte and the clean form they exhibited... I could happily spend 30 minutes just working that same routine with a friend just to work on form until I looked that good!
